By Dawson Iasillo News Wrtier 12/9/22 Tragedy struck Colorado Springs on November 19. Club Q, a local LGBTQ+ night club, went under attack as 22-year-old Anderson Lee Aldrich started shooting. Five were murdered and more than 25 faced injuries.
11:56 P.M.: The first 911 calls were made. Authorities said the shooter wasted no time. As soon as Aldrich entered, he started his killing spree. Many were dancing when the first shots rang and thought it was part of the music. 11:57 P.M.: The initial officer was dispatched to the scene. 12:00 A.M.: The officers arrived at the scene. In total, 39 officers and 11 ambulances were at the scene. |
12:00 A.M. - 12:02 A.M.: Two heroic people inside the club tried to take down the shooter. Thomas James and Richard Fierro. The two confronted the gunman and managed to take his gun and beat him with it until the police arrived. Fierro pulled the gunman to the ground by grabbing the sides of his body armor. After Aldrich was sprawled on the ground, Fierro noticed he had a rifle and a handgun. Then Fierro asked for help to secure the shooter who he had guessed was around 300 pounds. That’s when James and many others jumped in to help. The two were regulars at Club Q.
12:02 A.M.: The first law enforcement officers arrived at the scene and detained the suspect. Preliminary charges include five counts of first-degree murder and five counts of hate crime. Formal charges will be presented at trial on December 6. Information provided by www.insider.com. |
