On Aug. 25, 2022, the Lady Bearcats travelled to Gering to play softball against the Bulldogs. The Bearcats brought their A game.
Taryn Spady, 12, was the first person to get a home run also bringing two other players across the home plate. Spady gave the Bearcats three points eight minutes into the game. “It felt good knowing that I contributed to the team's great hitting momentum which led to our success in that game,” says Spady. Soon after Spady received her homerun, Zoey Paez, 11, went up to the plate to hit, knocking out another homerun. The score 4-0 for the Bearcats. Then, Aubrey Barrett, 12, was up to the plate to bat, and the crowds hushed. Barrett hit yet another homerun to the crowds’ roar. She brought another player across home plate, bringing the score up to 6-1 at the end of the first inning. “It felt amazing knowing I contributed to such a big win. And I can’t wait to play Gering the next time to see what we accomplish next,” explains Barrett. Entering into the second inning, the Bearcats immediately added two more points to the score, making it 8-1. As Piper Ryschon, 12, came up to the plate, the Bearcats gained another beautiful homerun. “It felt really good after I hit the home run because it gets the rest of the team up and cheering and wanting to compete more,” elaborates Ryschon. |
Walking into the third inning, the Bearcats didn’t get any points added to their score (11-1), but they made it up in the fourth inning where they received four points within a couple of minutes.
Finally Jenna Spengler, 11, went up to bat and gained the last of many homeruns for the Bearcats. After the fourth inning, the Bearcats and the Bulldogs decided to call it quits for the night with the score of 19-1, gaining the Lady Bearcats an overwhelming win! |
